Howard J. Stehlik
Howard J. Stehlik, 76, a lifelong resident of Redding, died on October 14 at his home following a year-long courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Johanna Stehlik and the father of Joanne McCredie of Newtown.
Mr Stehlik was born in Redding on April 20, 1924, a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Trnka) Stehlik. He was retired from the Barden Corporation in Danbury after 35 years of employment as an industrial plant engineer.
He had attended Redding schools and Bullard Haven Technical School in Bridgeport. Mr Stehlik was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy.
Mr Stehlik was an outdoorsman and avid gardener. His other interests included fine woodworking, antique cars, and in his earlier years, he was active in 4-H horse clubs. He was also a volunteer and honorary member of the Redding Ridge Fire Department.
In addition to his wife of 53 years and daughter, he is survived by four other daughters, Beverly Stehlik of Danbury, Marcia Sandone of Brookfield, Deborah Baldasare of Southbury, and Ruth Barney of Easton; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Miriam Leslie of Harwich, Mass., and Ruth Hendricksen of Norwood, N.J.; and three nieces and one nephew.
 Services and interment were private.

Arrangements were by the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown.
