Al-Anon Family Recovery Workshop

WATERBURY — The Al-Anon Family Groups of Connecticut will sponsor a recovery workshop on Saturday, October 25, from 9 am till 4:30 pm, at Kaynor Technical High School on Watertown Avenue (entrance on Tompkins Street).

The theme of the 37th annual Al-Anon workshop is “Enjoy the Journey,” which will focus on various 12-step related topics, presented by members sharing their experiences, strength, and hope. There will be Alateen and Alcoholic’s Anonymous participation, with each fellowship featuring a keynote speaker in the afternoon.

Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics, who believe that recovery from the adverse affects of caring for someone who drinks too much is possible. They believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

The Al-Anon Connecticut website address for further information is www.ct-al-anon.org. The toll-free answering service number, available Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, is 888-8AL-ANON or 888-825-2666 for information and meeting schedules.

The workshop is open to members of the three fellowships: newcomers, and the general public, as well as to professionals in the communities, statewide. There will be conference approved Al-Anon, Alateen, and AA literature and schedules available and a raffle will be held. Registration is $8 at the door, $5 for teens. Lunch is brown bag or at nearby restaurants.
