Pair Arrested On Multiple

Drug Charges On Queen Street

After police spotted an auto emitting excessive exhaust gases about 10 pm March 6, they pulled it over on Queen Street in front of Newtown Middle School to investigate.

Motorist Caitlin Durkin, 18, of 4 Winesap Drive was the driver, and Charles P. Hill, 22, of 50 Osborn Hill Road was the passenger, police said.

Police called in their police dog Baro for a search to determine whether drugs were present in the vehicle.

Following the search, police charged Durkin with emitting excessive automotive exhaust fumes, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

Police charged Hill with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school.

After processing, police released Durkin on $200 bail for a March 21 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. Police released Hill on $500 bail for a March 22 court appearance.

Officer Leonard Penna investigated the case, with the assistance of Officer Andrew Stinson and police dog Baro.
