Frances Avery
Frances (Southard) Avery, 83, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 63 years of the late Raymond J. Avery, died on August 18 in her home with her family at her side.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl A. Kellogg and her husband, Allen, of Newtown.
Born in Bridgeport, Mrs Avery had been a Fairfield resident since 1942. She was a longtime member of the Golden Hill United Methodist Church in Bridgeport. She was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter, and a unique caregiver to not only her family but others as well. A good day would be time spent with family and friends that would drop in at any time.
Survivors also include two sons, Raymond A. Avery and his wife, Carol, of Bridgeport, and Craig F. Avery and his wife, Antoinette (Toni), of Trumbull; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service was held on August 22 in the Golden Hill Methodist Church, Bridgeport, with the Rev Dr Brian Schofield-Bodt, pastor, officiating. Burial was private and at the convenience of the family.
The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
