Ellen Tyrrell

Ellen Gannon Tyrrell, 85, mother of Margaret Cassin of Newtown, died July 11

at Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury. She was the wife of the late

Thomas S. Tyrrell.

Born in Galway, Ireland, July 27, 1909, she was a daughter of Martin and Mary

Gannon. She emigrated to the United States in 1926, living in Manhattan and

the Bronx, before moving to Warwick, N.Y., in 1972. She was a former employee

of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Mrs Tyrrell was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St Stephen's

Church in Warwick.

She is also survived by two sons, Thomas Tyrrell of Willingboro, N.J., and

John Tyrrell of Warwick; two other daughters, Anne McGowan of Mahwah, N.J.,

and Mary Catherine McEvoy of New Fairfield; two sisters, Mary Keane of

Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Bridget Keating of Galway; 16 grandchildren; and

seven great-grandchildren.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Recreation Department of Glen

Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury 06811.

Calling hours are Friday, July 14, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Lazear

Smith Funeral Home, Oakland Avenue, Warwick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 am at St Stephen's

Church, Warwick. Burial will be in St Stephen's Cemetery.
