Newtown Insurance Changes Hands

In August, Manzi Insurance & Real Estate purchased Newtown Insurance Service, LLC.

Located at 316 South Main Street, Newtown Insurance is the oldest independent insurance agency in Newtown, having been started by Alfred “Fred” Frenkel in 1961.

Upon Fred’s passing, operation of the business was carried on by his daughter, Susan Frenkel. Ms Frenkel continued the work of her father, and with the help of her staff, the agency grew to a very respected area business.

The desire to have a little more free time to spend with new grandchildren and leisure activities led Ms Frenkel to enter into an agreement with Ray Manzi of Manzi Insurance in Woodbury. Her biggest concern was that her employees and customers of so many years be treated with the same level of service that they had received from her family through the years.

Mr Manzi’s history closely mirrored Ms Frankel’s. His dad, Edward Manzi, had started his own agency in 1953. Ray Manzi worked with his father for 21 years before leaving in 2004 to open Manzi Insurance. And more recently, Ed Manzi went to work for his son part-time after he retired in 2005.

Ray Manzi said that his new clients need not worry about change.

“The name, phone, address, and especially the employees will all be the same,” Ray Manzi told The Newtown Bee recently. “Susan Frenkel will continue to have an active role in the agency’s daily operations.”

Mr Manzi said Ms Frenkel’s clients will now have access to a broader line of insurance products in the areas of life, health, long-term care, Medicare, and financial services. At the same time, Newtown clients will now gain access to new products for home, auto, and business insurance.

Manzi Insurance will continue to operate at its Woodbury location at 215 Main Street South, offering a broad array of insurance, financial, and real estate services. Manzi agency clients will also benefit from additional property and casualty companies from the purchase.

“I couldn’t find a better fit for my existing agency than what I found in Newtown Insurance,” Mr Manzi said.
