This Is A Headline For Knapp

Joseph Lewis Knapp, 70, of Ridgefield, died on June 13 at New Milford Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late June A. Wrobel Knapp and the father of Darin S. Knapp of Sandy Hook.

Mr Knapp was born in Ridgefield on July 17, 1929, the sixth of ten children born to the late Joseph L. and Florence Coburn Knapp. He established his business, Knapp Bros., Inc., tree surgeons, based in Ridgefield and still located there.

He was an active member of the Board of Directors at the former Village Bank and Trust, as well as the present Webster Bank in Ridgefield, and was an active member of the Ridgefield Lions Club and other civic organizations. Mr Knapp was also an antique automobile enthusiast.

Mr Knapp was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Army.

He also is survived by three other sons, David J. Knapp of Danbury, Daryl T. Knapp of Wyalusing, Pa., Dayle J. Knapp of Ridgefield; two daughters, Darcy A. Grondin of Danbury and Dawne M. Gosselin of New Milford; three brothers, Richard W. Knapp of Redding, Edward Knapp of New Fairfield; five sisters, Helen Spadaccino of Danbury, Dorothy Jacobellis of Georgia, Josephine Keene of Georgia, Mildred Molinaro of Danbury, and Marjorie Evans-Denyko of New Fairfield; twenty grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr Knapp was predeceased by a sister, Florence Hayes of Ridgefield.

Services will be held on June 17 at 11 am in the First Church of Christ Congregational, Redding Center. The Rev Dean C. Ahlberg, pastor, will officiate. The internment is to be private.

Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown, on June 16 from 4 to 8 pm.
