Newtownâs Ryer Finance Director
WATERBURY â The Connecticut Community Foundation recently appointed Sandy Hook resident Barbara Ryer as director of finance and administration. The Connecticut Community Foundation was the first community foundation in the state, now serving 21 towns in greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills and administering more than 380 charitable funds established by local donors.
In her new role, Ms Ryer is responsible for fiscal management, accounting operations, human resources, regulatory compliance, and IT operations.
She joined the foundation as interim director of finance in 2011. Prior to her recent appointment, she has worked as a senior financial analyst for more than 13 years with companies including Heublein in Hartford, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and Kelson Pediatric Partners in Hartford.
Ms Ryer also serves as the PTA treasurer at Reed Intermediate School. Her community volunteer work also included working with the North Texas Cat Rescue in McKinney, Texas.
