Author, Adventure Seeker To Speak At Working Women’s Forum

The Working Women’s Forum, an association of local professionals and entrepreneurs will feature, “When the Shift Hits the Fan: Five Steps to Getting Your Groove Back,” a talk by Ann Sheybani.

The program will be held Wednesday, September 12, at The Villa Restaurant, 4 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

Ms Sheybani is an accomplished mountain climber, marathoner, sailor, scuba diver, and tango dancer who graduated from Harvard University with a master’s degree in creative literature. While at Harvard her work was published numerous times by The Charles River Review. In addition, she earned a BS in chemistry from the University of Connecticut.

After living in Iran for five years with her husband, she returned with her two children and began her solo life anew. She states, “Every year I try something daring, because fear of the unknown is how great things start.”

She explains her talk is for anyone who wakes up one morning wondering what comes next. For those who secretly fear that without a lover, or a spouse, or dependent children, they have no function, identity, or worth.

Ms Sheybani will discuss specific strategies to help women break through self imposed limitations and embrace life. In this session attendees will learn how to recognize and free themselves from the common traps that hold them hostage.

Her tricks show how to carve out time to feel relaxed and rejuvenated. She will explain the power of the bucket list, and how to create a plan to get started with The One Action Step, and the key ways to turn marriage, career, and social life around by connecting with personal desires.

Networking and appetizers begin at 6 pm followed by the guest speaker. For reservations, e-mail register at rsvp@workingwomensforum.ne, or call WWF President Maureen Wilson at 203-740-9097. The program and appetizer fee will be $10 for members, and $20 for nonmembers with a cash bar. The group will be accepting canned food, personal health, and beauty items for the Newtown Faith Food Pantry.
