Beloved Husband
And Father
Peter A. Cochrane, 60, of Sandy Hook, died September 21 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. Mr Cochrane was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Boldry) Cochrane. He was born in Rockville Centre, N.Y., on April 24, 1948, a son of Herbert and Dorothy (Bender) Cochrane.
Mr Cochrane was raised in Levittown, N.Y., and was a graduate of Island Trees High School. He graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., with a BS in mechanical engineering. Mr Cochrane served in the US Army with the Airborne Rangers, with the rank of captain, in Germany from 1970 to 1975. He then earned a MA from Boston University in engineering management.
During his career as an engineer, he was employed by Proctor & Gamble and Pfizer, and had his own consulting company, Creative Control Solutions. A resident of Newtown since 1995, he was secretary of Newtown Babe Ruth Baseball and had previously been active with the Middle Gate School PTA.
In addition to his wife, Mr Cochrane is survived by two sons, Peter A. Cochrane, Jr, a student at the University of Connecticut, and James S. Cochrane of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Katherine M. Cochrane of Sandy Hook; and a brother, Curtis Cochrane of Woodbridge, Va.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 26, at 10 am, in the Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, Newtown. Interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be private. Calling hours were scheduled at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Thursday, September 25, from 5 to 8 pm.
