Three Bereavement Groups For Adults
Three Bereavement Groups For Adults
SOUTHBURY â The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut is hosting three different bereavement programs for adults who have suffered a loss. Jenny Casey, MSW of Regional Hospice, will be the facilitator.
All programs are free and open to the public and take place in the library at the Federation, 444 Main Street North.
On Wednesday, May 9 from 6 to 7:30 pm, Ms Casey will lead a workshop, âMotherâs Day When Your Mom Has Died,â to help adults grieving the loss of their mothers as Motherâs Day approaches. Participants will find a supportive and accepting environment to share thoughts and feelings and discuss strategies to cope with their grief and the intensified emotions Motherâs Day can elicit.
A six-week bereavement group for any adult who has experienced a loss starts on Thursday, May 10, from 3:30 to 4:45 pm, and will continue meeting through June 14. The goal of this group is supportive in nature, providing a safe environment for sharing with others who have also been touched by loss.
This group is for adults who have not been part of Ms Caseyâs previous groups at the Federation.
A monthly support group for those who have previously been in bereavement groups takes place the fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are scheduled from 3:30 to 5 pm on May 22, June 26, July 24 and August 28.
Seating is limited and participants should register with Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service director, at 203-267-3177, extension 310.
