Many Helped Make

Opening Day A Success

To the Editor:

On behalf of Newtown Baseball, I’d like to thank all who attended our Opening Day Celebration on Saturday at Glander Field. We had a fantastic time kicking off our spring season. There were lots of smiles and tons of laughter. An event like this can’t happen without the contributions of many.

Thanks to the Opening Day committee — Pam Galer, Sue Godino, Missy Robinson, and Jennifer Taylor — for the time and effort they put into the event planning and execution.

Thanks to Robert Hutchins for keeping us on schedule and serving as our master of ceremonies on the mic.

Thanks to Michelle Spineda for leading us in the singing of our national anthem.

Thanks to Laurie Bergeron for organizing and distributing our spring team uniforms.

Thanks to Kym Venezia for spearheading our new spirit wear designs and being on hand with samples and our first batch of orders.

Thanks to Susan Dorazio, Shelly Eppers, Kim Haywood, and Jamie Murphy for running our raffles.

Thanks to Kathy Coffey for managing our Pitch In For Baseball donations.

Thanks to Anne Dieckman for helping us get the Snack Shack stocked and open for business.

Thanks to Tom Tavar, Darrell Harrington, and Scott Cicciari for capturing the event on film.

Thanks to the various coaches, parents, and players who helped us get the fields at Glander ready for the event.

Thanks to the coaches and players who ran the games for our 5–7-year-olds.

Thanks to the Newtown High School freshmen baseball team who ran skills stations for our 8–12- year-olds.

Thanks to my colleagues on the Newtown Baseball board — Randy Dieckman, Jim Parker, Laurie Bergeron, Bob Elias, Joe Mailloux, Dave O’Sullivan, and Richard Dieckman — for being such strong advocates for our baseball community.

And finally, a special thanks to our sponsors, division directors, coaches, and parents for your support. It’s your enthusiasm and involvement that make Newtown Baseball such a great experience for our players.

Here’s to a great spring season.
