NHS Swimmers Sink Barlow, 101-77

Newtown High School’s boys’ swimming and diving team defeated visiting Joel Barlow of Redding 101-77 on Tuesday. Results are as follows:

200 Medley Relay – first, 1:57.60, Sean Fahey, Seth Barrett, Matt Argraves, Pat Milano; second – 2:11.89 Frankie Biancardi, Nicole Chaloux, Andrew Braun, Pat Haggerty.

200 Freestyle – first, Mike Lally 2:07.45; second – Stephen Mais 2:09.53.

200 Individual Medley – first, Seth Barrett 2:28.60; second, Matt Argraves 2:32.93; third, Ben Galassi 2:33.92.

50 Free – first, Pat Milano 25.94; third, Pat Haggerty 27.27.

Diving – second, Kurt Daum 141.9; third, Nick Snyder 135.25.

100 Butterfly – first, Matt Argraves 1:04.80; second, Andrew Braun 1:12.53.

100 Free – first, Pat Haggerty 1:01.89; second, Scott Schmidt 1:02.44.

500 Free – first, Mike Lally 5:45.60; second, Stephen Mais 5:52.93.

200 Free Relay – first, 1:48.64, Andrew Braun, Pat Haggerty, Scott Schmidt, Pat Milano.

100 Backstroke – first, Sean Fahey 1:03.98; second, Frankie Biancadri 1:08.57.

100 Breaststroke – first, Seth Barrett 1:11.85; second, Harrison Buzzi 1:16.79; third, Ben Galassi 1:20.90.

400 Free Relay – first, 4:05.72 Scott Schmidt, Matt Argraves, Stephen Mais, Sean Fahey.

“This was a great team win. I have really begun to see the guys’ hard work paying off. We have a couple tough meets coming up so we’ll see where we can go from here,” said Newtown Coach Zach Gauvin, whose team – following two weeks off from meet action – hosts Weston on February 7 and entertains Staples of Westport on February 10 – both at 4 pm.

The Nighthawks will have their final home meet of the regular season on February 15 when New Milford visits. The slate concludes February 17 at New Fairfield.
