Sledding On Sacred Ground

To the Editor:

I saw something Sunday morning that really bothers me, and that is kids sledding in the St Rose Cemetery. I understand that there is snow, so if you or your kids want to sled, that is fine, but you need to chose another place.

A cemetery is not an appropriate place to go sledding. This is sacred ground where the dead are buried and rest in peace. I think it is very disrespectful for parents to let their kids sled on the resting places of peoples’ loved ones. These kids do not understand that what they are doing is wrong, so it is up to the parents to make sure this does not continue to happen. It is a simple sign of respect to those who have passed and the loved ones they leave behind.

Please, find another place to sled. A cemetery is a sacred ground, not a place to play in the snow.
