Torpedoes Coaches Say Thanks

To Newtown Torpedoes Swimmers and Families:

We would like to thank all of the swimmers and families for their incredible support and dedication to the Newtown Torpedoes this year. The swim season demands a great deal of commitment not only from the swimmers but from their parents. As the coaches, we feel it was your efforts that made it a successful, enjoyable season for everyone.

We would like to first thank all of the parents who timed for us at meets, all those who contributed their time and donated to our concessions, and all of the friends and families of swimmers who came to cheer us on.

We would like to thank Maribeth and Joe Hemingway, and Susan Schunter for organizing and running our concessions at home meets, Tracey Fiore, Maribeth Hemmingway, and Susan Schunter for officiating, and Dan and Dawn Adams for running the electronic timing system.

We would like to thank Mary Pat Frobey for organizing the bathing suit orders, Charlie and Kathy Robinson for their concession help and for running the 50/50 raffles, Cathy Harmonay and Alison Truckle for providing results and statistics to the newspaper, and Beth and Kevin Koschel for driving the bus to the meet and the DJ’ing at the banquet.

Finally, we’d like to thank Rich Harmonay, Mary Pat Frobey, and Bob Hoagland for their meticulous scorekeeping, Diane Malloy for organizing our volunteers, team files, pizza party and fabulous slide show at the banquet, and John Toi for being our dedicated starter.

Last but not least, we’d like to thank Barbara Kasparian and the Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support, and Joan Conlon who arranged our banquet so we could celebrate another great season!

We couldn’t possibly thank you all enough for your help, enthusiasm, and generosity. It was you, along with 135 special swimmers that met our season so memorable. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
