Keep the Owner-Operator Bus Drivers

To the Editor:

I have been to the last two Board of Education meetings to speak about keeping the owner-operator bus drivers. The Board of Education is looking at the bids and trying to decide.

Money is not the only thing they should look at. Look at the reputation of the owner-operator bus drivers. They have been existence for 80 years. Everyone that speaks is for keeping the owner-perators. There are only positive comments. Keeping the owner-operators is a good thing for Newtown. They take care of our children, bringing them back and forth to school safely. They will not just leave a child unattended if their parent is not home; they will call and find out where they are because they care as if it is their own child. They give us their cell number if we have to get in touch with them.

Every time my daughter gets on the bus I feel that she will get to school safely. The owner-operator bus drivers are Newtown residents, pay taxes here, and know the roads. If something is not broke don’t fix it. We need them to keep our children safe. Safety is very important to everyone. Think about our children. We have quality in the owner-operator bus drivers. Listen to the parents and residents of Newtown.
