U12

Newtown Thunder 1, Norwalk 1: The Thunder opened its season with a hard-fought tie. In the first half, goalie Meghan Doyle made several outstanding saves before Norwalk was able to break through just before the end of the half.

Defender Steph Carr deflected a sure goal as she dove between the net and an attacker who had broken free. In the second half, Newtown had several scoring opportunities from continuous pressure supplied by Emily Neave and Ali Manfredi. Jess Maturo scored the equalizer with about five minutes remaining. Kendra Dunnigan was strong at midfield, while Julia Sughrue and Meghan Kelleher limited Norwalk’s offensive penetration.

U14

Chaos 4, Swat 3: For Chaos, goals were scored by Alex Dittrich, Jesse Sailer, Morgan Goldstein, and Sierra Mather. Jesse Sailer was credited with two assists with other assists came from Morgan Goldstein, Emma Brantl, and Danielle Agugliaro. Outstanding play by Emily Toby and Hannah Grant.

For the Swat team, goals were scored by Megan Olszewski, Raquel Crespo, and Jillian Pieretti. Zoe Ivan played well on defense and Jacqueline Mooney played tirelessly in the midfield.

Boys

U14

A-Team 3, Dario 2: The A Team defense withstood a furious second-half comeback attempt to defeat Dario. The A-Team was  led by the scoring of Michael Biancardi with two goals and Sawyer Conrad with his first of the season. Dillon Palumbo played a brilliant midfield, setting up multiple scoring opportunities for the A-Team.

The A-Team’s defense was once again anchored by the strong play of Nolah Orakwue and Charles Soto. Zachary DeMeglio had a strong game at the striker position. Dario was led by the scoring of Bryan Morrisey and Douglas Raigossa.
