Sandy Hook Collision
Motorist Warren Church, 36, of Omaha, Neb., who was driving westward on Route 34, started to make a left turn onto Wasserman Way about 5 pm on March 20, but then stopped to grant the right-of-way to an eastbound noncontact vehicle, police said.
Westbound motorist Virginia Lee Ashe, 58, of Danbury, told police that the sun obscured her vision and she did not see that Churchâs vehicle had stopped, after which Asheâs vehicle struck the rear end of Churchâs vehicle, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Ashe for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Ford Vs Lexus
Police report a two-car accident near 101 South Main Street about 2:05 pm on March 22.
Southbound motorist Dan Lin, 21, of Newport, Ohio, who was driving a 2005 Lexus station wagon, stopped for some stopped traffic and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Krystofer Kunkle, 19, of 20 Oak Ridge Road, who was driving a 1997 Ford sedan, police said.
Michael Bergeron, no age or address given, who was a passenger in the Ford, was treated for minor injuries at the scene by ambulance volunteers, according to police.
Police issued Kunkle an infraction ticket for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Toddy Hill Road
Police report that they were on radar-based speed patrol about 6:48 am March 22, when they stopped motorist Eligio Morales, 36, of Bridgeport for driving too fast on northbound Toddy Hill Road.
Police charged Morales with traveling too fast, misuse of a marker plate, and driving without a license. Morales is scheduled to appear April 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Lucio DeSouza, 39, of Danbury turned himself in at the police station on the afternoon of March 25 and was charged with failure to appear in court, improper use of high-beam headlamps, and driving while under suspension.
The motor vehicle charges stem from an incident on the night of November 15, when DeSouza allegedly drove with his high-beam headlamps on while behind other motorists on Mile Hill Road, according to police.Â
After processing the warrant arrest, police released DeSouza on $1,000 bail for an April 11 court appearance.
Chevrolet Vs Saab
At about 5:30 pm on March 23, a 1995 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup truck driven by Alan Hall, 59, of New Milford struck the rear end of a 2005 Saab 92-X sedan driven by Linda Smitas-Ruskin, 48, of Brookfield at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Main Street, police report. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Hall for following too closely.
Nissan/Deer Collision
Motorist Joseph Diaspro, 37, of Silver City Road, who was driving a 2005 Nissan truck northward on Hanover Road about 5 pm on March 21, encountered a deer that had entered the road, police said. The truck and the deer collided. Diaspro was not injured, police said.
South Main Street
About 11:14 am on March 16, tractor-trailer truck driver Anthony Delia, 39, of Woodbury, who was driving a 1995 International, was making a right turn from Hawley Lane onto southbound South Main Street, when motorist Carmella Vatelle of Sugar Street, who was driving a 2000 Dodge sedan, collided with the truck, police said.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Vatelle a written warning for following too closely.
Elm Drive
At about 6:06 pm on March 23, motorist Thomas Barnhart of Brushy Hill Road was driving a 1997 Volkswagen sedan southward on Elm Drive, when a deer ran out onto the road, resulting in a collision, police said. Barnhart was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Moving Violations
Police report that motorist William Robertson, 29, of 11-B Palestine Road disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Huntingtown Road and Brushy Hill Road about 9:30 pm on March 22, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police charged Robertson with failure to obey a stop sign and driving while under suspension. Robertson was released on $200 bail for an April 6 court appearance.
Town Ordinance
After learning that police held a warrant on her, Constance Widmann, 44, of 74 Hattertown Road, turned herself in on the afternoon of March 24 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and with violating the town ordinance which prohibits parking in a fire lane.
Police said the parking violation occurred on March 3, 2004, at Newtown Middle School. Such parking violates Town Ordinance #34. Police released Widmann on $50 bail for an April 6 court appearance.
Saab Vs Ford
Motorist Richard Creaturo, 47, of South Main Street, who was driving a 1999 Ford station wagon southward, slowed to make a right turn into a driveway at 332 South Main Street about 3:12 pm on March 25, and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Sandra Breyan, 62, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2004 Saab sedan, police said.
Creaturo was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for injuries, police said. Breyan failed to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.
Interstate DUI
State police report that motorist Domingo Gutierrez, 28, of Bethel was seen driving erratically on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 12:55 am on March 26, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police arrested Gutierrez on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and improper parking. State police held Gutierrez for a March 27 court appearance.
I-84 DUI
State police said that based on a statement from a witness, they charged Frey Cruz, 21, of Danbury with several violations on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 13, at about 10:21 pm on March 25.
State police charged Cruz with driving under the influence, driving without a license, driving without automotive insurance, and driving without a vehicle registration certificate. Cruz was scheduled to appear in court March 27.
Highway Accident
Motorist Florence Grieve, 56, of 110 Riverside Road, who was driving a 1998 Toyota 4Runner westward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, slowed for traffic conditions at about 6:44 am on March 23, state police said.
Westbound motorist Judith Lee Silverstein, 49, of Southbury, who was driving a 2002 Volvo station wagon, then struck the Toyota from behind, police said.
Ambulance volunteers transported Grieve to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, state police said. Silverstein was following too closely, state police said.
DUI Arrest
While on patrol on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Boggs Hill Road, at about 3:14 am March 24, police said they spotted a parked vehicle facing eastward that was positioned in the southbound lane, so they stopped to investigate.
Police said they detected the odor of alcohol, after which they gave motorist Brandon Veccherelli, 25, of 42 Mt Nebo Road field sobriety tests.
Police charged Veccherelli with driving under the influence and with improper parking. After posting $50 bail, police released Veccherelli for an April 13 court appearance.
DUI Warrant
On March 25, police arrested Anthony Pittaluga, 19, of Naugatuck on a warrant, charging him in connection with a serious three-vehicle accident that occurred December 8 on Route 34.
Police arrested Pittaluga on charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
After processing, police released Pittaluga on $2,500 bail for an April 13 court appearance.
Warrant
Police report they arrested Robert Dean, 23, of 14 Old Hawleyville Road on a warrant on March 28 at Danbury Superior Court, charging him with failure to respond to an infraction and with violating the town parking ordinance.
Police said that Dean had failed to respond to a parking ticket that was issued to him under the terms of the townâs parking ordinance on January 27, 2004.
Dean was presented in court on the charge on March 28, police said.
Window Damage
Police report that sometime overnight on March 20-21, someone punctured the front window at Kingâs Restaurant at 265 South Main Street in Botsford. Police are investigating.
Toyota Accident
Motorist Antonia Stalzer, 58, of Danbury was driving a 2002 Toyota sedan northward near 152 South Main Street about 3:30 pm March 22, when she apparently fell asleep and drifted onto the right road shoulder, striking a traffic sign and a utility pole, police report.
Stalzer reported pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Police issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Suzuki Vs BMW
About 3:33 pm March 15, motorist Kevin Corrigan, 51, of Driftway Drive, who was driving a 1995 Suzuki southward on South Main Street, struck the rear end of a southbound 2003 BMW sedan driven by motorist Jeffrey Cordisco, 29, of Brookfield, police report. Ambulance volunteers transported Cordisco to Danbury Hospital for treatment of neck pain, police said.
Police issued Corrigan a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Berkshire Road
About 8 am March 21, motorist Richard Knickerbocker, 46, of Washington Avenue, who was driving a 1993 Subaru station wagon, exited the driveway at 12 Berkshire Road and collided with motorist Daniel Cartisano, 16, of Scenic View Drive, who was driving a 1993 Chevrolet sedan on Berkshire Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Knickerbocker a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Three Vehicles
A three-vehicle collision occurred about 9:17 am March 21 near 20 Church Hill Road.
Eastbound motorist Jeanne Varnum, 39, of Ashford Lane, who was driving a 2005 Volvo station wagon, stopped for traffic, police said. Eastbound motorist Cheryl Barbour, 48, of Stonewall Ridge Road, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet station wagon, stopped behind the Volvo, police said.
Eastbound motorist Kirk Andersen, 23, of Capitol Drive, who was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi box truck, drove into the rear end of the Chevrolet, pushing the Chevrolet into the rear end of the Volvo, police said.
Barbour reported a sore neck, but refused medical attention, police said. Police said they verbally warned Andersen for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
