Baughman Joins United Way Staff

DANBURY — The United Way of Northern Fairfield County announced that Tim Baughman has joined its staff as vice president of community impact.

Mr Baughman will coordinate the volunteer-driven Community Planning and Community Impact Councils as they implement the United Way’s Community Impact agenda based on its needs assessment, goal setting, investment strategies, and outcome measurements. He will serve as the primary liaison with United Way partner agencies and all local nonprofit agencies working toward results in the agency’s four impact areas.

Mr Baughman brings a deep and varied background in social services to this new position. Most recently he was director of social services for the Salvation Army in Danbury. Prior to that he was the director of their Homeless Prevention Program. In these two positions he worked closely with the United Way, and served on many of its committees, including the Day of Caring and Housing Opportunities teams, and the Self-Sufficiency Council.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Baughman’s strengths in social services and passion for our Community Impact agenda join our staff to direct our work in this area,” said June Renzulli, president of the United Way. “His familiarity with the local community and health and human service agencies, and our United Way’s mission, gives him the understanding and vision to educate and motivate the community to collaborative action.”

Mr Baughman earned a master of divinity and master of religious education at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and served as associate minister at Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., and prior to that, as minister of education/youth at North Dunedin Baptist Church in Dunedin, Fla.

In addition, he holds a master of rehabilitation counseling, earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of South Carolina, and worked in vocational rehabilitation and as a mental health counselor at a psychiatric hospital in Columbia, S.C.

He and his family live in Ridgefield.
