Charles S. Caragliano, 91, husband of Grace (DeGiovanni) Caragliano of St George Place, Newtown, died January 25 in Danbury Hospital.
He was born in Bronx, N.Y., October 7, 1912, a son of the late Santo and Saverina Caragliano.
Mr Caragliano was a retired postal worker from the 72nd Street Post Office in Manhattan. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy. He lived in the Bronx for 82 years, moving to Newtown in 1995. Mr Caragliano was a member of the Newtown Senior Center.
In addition to his wife, Mr Caragliano is survived by two daughters; Carol Decina and her husband Pasquale of Pawling, N.Y., and Lorraine Fuchs and her husband Robert of Middlebury; one brother, Frank Caragliano; four grandchildren: Christopher Diesel, Peter Decina, Robert Decina and Kimberly Diesel; two great-grandchildren: Kayley Ann Decina and Anthony Gerard Decina.
Funeral services were held January 28 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in St Rose Cemetery in the spring.
