Alpine DUI

Police report that motorist Patricia Parker, 51, of 29 Alpine Circle, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra westward near 155 Alpine Drive about midnight May 5, when the Hyundai struck a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo sedan, which was parked on the left road shoulder. There were no injuries. Police said they charged Parker with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. Police released her on $60 bail for a May 23 court appearance.

SUV Rollover

Motorist Hilary Moskowitz, 16, of 8 Roosevelt Drive, who was driving a 1999 Ford sport-utility vehicle on Boggs Hill Road, near its intersection with Willow Brook Lane, about 4 pm May 3, lost control of the vehicle on the wet road while making a curve to the left, police said.

The Ford climbed an embankment on the right side of the road and rolled over completely, coming to rest on its tires, police said.

The Ford also carried a 16-year-old passenger, police said. Newtown ambulance volunteers transported Moskowitz to Danbury Hospital for treatment of a hand injury, police said. Dodgingtown firefighters went to the accident. Police issued Moskowitz a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Church Hill Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident near the Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road, at about 7 am May 3.

The crash involved westbound motorist Eric Hanson, 34, of Clifton Park, N.Y., who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen, and eastbound motorist Francesco Iacono, 30, of Southbury, who was driving a 1996 Chevrolet, police said. Police said Hanson made a restricted turn.

Pole Bridge Rollover

Motorist Maxwell Reed, 17, of Bankside Trail, who was driving a 2001 Toyota sedan southward on Pole Bridge Road about 1:30 am April 29, started to take a curve in the road but lost control, went off the left road shoulder and rolled over, landing upside down, police said.

Ambulance volunteers checked Reed at the scene, police said. Police issued him a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Riverside Road

About 3 am April 29, motorist Kathleen Deweese, 21, of Pole Bridge Road, who was driving a 2005 Nissan sedan on Riverside Road, went off the right road shoulder and struck guard cabling, police report. Deweese was not injured. Police issued Deweese an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Two MV Charges

On May 4, police charged motorist Mark Kochiss, 41, of Derby with driving a motor vehicle without a marker plate and also with driving while under suspension. After processing the arrest, police released Kochiss on a written promise to appear May 18 in Danbury Superior Court.

Truck Hits Cable

Truck driver Jose Moreno, 29, of Hamden, who was driving a 2005 Freightliner near 37 Engleside Terrace at about 9:45 am April 29, when, while backing up, struck a telephone cable that was suspended across the road, police report. There were no injuries. Police said there were no “vehicle height limit” signs posted in the area. Police took no enforcement.

Key Rock Road

While traveling on Key Rock Road on May 6, motorist Robert Helfrich, 53, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Suzuki sedan, lost control of the vehicle and then struck a traffic sign, utility pole and mailbox, police said.

Dodgingtown firefighters went to the accident. Ambulance volunteers treated Helfrich at the scene, but he refused transport to Danbury Hospital, police said. After investigating the accident, police took no enforcement.

Keys Found

On May 2, a set of keys was found at the athletic fields near the intersection of Turkey Hill Road and Peck’s Lane.

The set includes a car key, a house key, and a remote-control car door opener. Police said the owner may claim the keys by contacting police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Three Charges

About 7 am May 7, police spotted a motorist driving a pickup truck on South Main Street with an expired vehicle registration sticker on its rear marker plate, so they stopped the driver to investigate.

Police then charged motorist Anthony Grave, 24, of Monroe with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while under suspension, and failure to have automotive insurance.

After processing, police released Grave on $100 bail for a May 25 court appearance.

DUI Arrest

About 1:40 am May 7, police spotted Anthony T. Trotta, 18, of Trumbull driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage in a parking lot near 127 South Main Street, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they gave Trotta field sobriety tests, after which they found some unopened cans of beer in the vehicle.

Police charged Trotta with driving under the influence and with possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by an underage person.

After arrest processing, police released Trotta on $60 bail for a May 25 court appearance.

Mercury Vs Mercury

Police report a two-car accident on Riverside Road, near Philo Curtis Road, about 9:49 pm May 6, which involved two 1997 Mercury station wagons .

Police said motorist Prescott Perry, 16, of 12 Botsford Lane, struck the rear end of the vehicle driven by motorist Rae Brier, 56, of 22 Misty Vale Road. There were no injuries. Perry received a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.

Bicycle Found

On the evening of May 2, a bicycle was found along Philo Curtis Road in the area where that road crosses above Interstate 84, police said. The bicycle has black and green coloration with 20-inch-diameter wheels. The owner may claim the bicycle by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Main Street Crash

Police report a two-car accident on Main Street, near East Street, about 4:26 pm May 4.

On northbound Main Street, motorist Ana Guzman, 23, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Nissan sedan, struck the rear end of a 2005 Jaguar sedan driven by Leanore Ciccari, 48, of New Fairfield, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Guzman an infraction for driving without a license and also issued her a written warning for following too closely.

Berkshire Collision

About 5:30 pm May 9, motorist Patrick Masella, 20, of Stratford, who was driving a 1998 Ford truck, collided with motorist Brian Malota, 42, of Beacon Falls, who was driving a 2002 Mercury sedan, at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Toddy Hill Road in Sandy Hook, police report. No injuries were reported. Police issued Masella an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.

Materials Stolen

Sometime between 4 pm on Saturday, May 6, and 7 am on Monday, May 8, someone stole a number of building materials stored by a new house now under construction on Boggs Hill Road at its intersection with Mt Nebo Road. The address is 57-B Boggs Hill Road. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 426-5841.

Mailbox Incident

Sometime between 1 and 2:20 pm on May 1, someone who was driving a vehicle smashed into a mailbox and its mailbox post at the end of the driveway at 4 Russett Road, police said. Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact police.

Seven Charges

Police report that they arrested Richard Serricchio, 40, of New Haven on a warrant in Stamford on May 11, charging him with seven offenses stemming from an April 2005 motor vehicle stop in Newtown.

Police said they charged Serricchio with second degree failure to appear in court, theft of a marker plate, driving without a license, improper use of a marker plate, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to display a marker plate, and driving without automotive insurance.

After arrest processing, Serricchio posted $10,000 bail and was released from police custody for a May 25 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
