Hope He's Right
Hope Heâs Right
To the Editor:
Iâve been following this animal control officer controversy as it has been played out in the press and letters to this paper. I hope for the sake of Newtown, Mr Borst knows what he is doing. In many cases a challenge to termination made to the Labor Department results in reinstatement with back pay times three, as well as the complainantâs legal fees.
The reason I mention this is because each week we are usually treated to a letter from one of the other two selectmen complaining about Mr Borst and his lack of knowledge regarding his own job. I am wondering how he all of a sudden determined Ms Mason wasnât doing her job.
Considering that several other people involved in this government seem to think Mr Borst is in way over his own head in his current position, how did he obtain sufficient evidence to summarily terminate her? I hope he is right in this particular case; if he is ultimately proven wrong and the town has to pay Ms Mason any money it should come out of his pocket and not the townâs. The three stooges are bad enough, now it seems they are bringing their act to other town departments.
