Girls U-11 Travel

Comets 0, Stamford 1 – In a well matched game, Newtown lost on free kick that found the back of the net after slicing through a heavily congested box. Alyssa Ruefenacht provided some key saves in the second half to prevent any further scoring, while Sarah Lyon and Madeline Sieber worked hard to hold off the attack. Brittney Antous and Kimberly Brello made a great effort at midfield as Casey Harkins hustled to spark the offense.

 

Girls U14 Rec

Twisters 3, Earthquakes 1 – Both teams played a great last game for the fall season. For the Twisters, goals were scored by Haley Naphen, Isabella Saraceni, and Kerry Scallon. Aoife Flanagan played well at midfield. The lone goal for the Earthquakes was scored by Megan Foy and assisted by Sydney Allen. Emily Papp and Kelly Coughlin played with a lot of heart on both offense and defense.

Twisters 3, Earthquakes 1 – For the Twisters, goals were scored by Tonya Tucker, Caitlin Filiato and Kerry Scallon. Anna Pinckney played strong defense and Jenna Hansen was solid in goal. Sydney Allen scored and Jessica Coughlin and Rebecca Frank played well in defeat.

Smiters 3,  Cyclones 2 – Rachel Karnoff, Emily Davis and Claire Miles scored in the win. Aileen Sheluck, Lizzie Wojcik, Amanda Martinez and Abby Hungaski all played well. Goals by Jane Sclafani and an assist by Emily Albrecht led the Cyclones. Sara Ficks, Zoe Brodsky and Geralyn Klein put in strong performances.

 Girls U10 Rec

Funky Monkies 2, Killer Tigers 0 –Molly Begg and Alexandra Manoni scored in the win. The Funky Monkies were powered by the outstanding defensive efforts of Grace Svenson and Stephanie Haas. For the Killer Tigers, Callie Kraushaar returned and put up a great defensive effort, while Ali Manfredi controlled midfield and Grace Frost turned up the heat offensively.

U-8 Rec Girls

Dynamites 1, Fighting Irish 1 – For the Dynamites, Ashley Santore scored with an assist from Savannah Mather. Claire Dubois and Verconica Vodola played well offensively, while Angela Vodola played a great overall game. For the Fighting Irish, Jenna Lavelle scored the goal. Heidi Poarch and Elizabeth Mawdsley were outstanding on defense. Makayla Manoni and Isabella Satmary played great offensively.

Thundering Jaguars 2, Shooting Stars 0 – Bella Jimenez and Alexis Mason both scored for the Thundering Jaguars, while Audrey Sedensky kept up the pressure on offense and defense. Greta Staubly made some great saves in goal, and Tess “French fry” Hubbard had a solid overall game. For the Shooting Stars, Ally Toth had an all around excellent game. Grainne Flanagan was a powerhouse offensively, and Jackie Seras secured the goal.

Lightning 1, Wolverines 1 – For the Lightning, Sage Karp scored the goal with an assist by Jenna Gonski. Sarah Tressler made nice passes and Alexis Fortugno made two saves in goal. For Wolverines, Lisa Riccio scored a goal set up by Sandy Vastola and Marisol Marin. Denise Ferdinand played strong defense and Jenny Gallens made three saves in goal.

American Eagles 4, Monkees 2 – For the American Eagles, Rylee Mulligan and Olivia Hage combined for four goals on assists from Grace Howgego, Grace Sholtes and Lauren Carrino. Lucy Scarangella played a great all-around game. Abbey Clarke and Emma Boland scored for the Monkees. Brooke Antous, Nicole Keeping and Rachel Swenson played great games.

Soccer Stars 4, Team number eight 2 – Two goals apiece from Cassidy Kortze and Maggie Beardsley contributed to the Soccer Stars’ win. Sarah Widman and Anna Moscovici were solid in goal. Aly Tassiello, Lin Vitarbo and Lauren Adams were strong on defense.
