Dorothy Meyer

Mrs Dorothy Horton Meyer, 89, of the Penick Village, Southern Pines, N.C.,

mother of Melissa Pilchard of Newtown, died October 24.

A memorial service was held October 27 from the Penick Village Chapel.

Mrs Meyer was born on December 6, 1908 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, a daughter of

the late Benjamin and Isabel Loche Horton. She graduated from Syracuse

University with a degree in Library Science and continued her education at

John Hopkins University. Before retiring to Chapel Hill, and later, Southern

Pines, she was the head reference librarian of Montgomery Country, Md. She was

a member of Gamma Phi Sorority and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors in addition to her daughter include a sister, Anita Wadhams of

Southern Pines, N.C., and two grandsons.

Powell Funeral Home & Crematory of Southern Pines was in charge of

arrangements.
