School Bus Collision
An auto and a school bus carrying about 30 Newtown High School students collided in snowy conditions on Glen Road in Sandy Hook, near its intersection with Pine Street, about noon Friday, March 9, after school had been let out early due to a snowstorm.
There were no injuries in the collision, according to police.
Police said school bus driver LeReine M. Frampton, 43, of 6 Pebble Road was driving a 1995 International school bus carrying about 30 students northbound on Glen Road in snowy conditions when she encountered southbound motorist Albert J. Sears, 50, of 42 Black Bridge Road, who was driving a 1985 Oldsmobile sedan.
Police said Frampton told them that Sears lost control of the Oldsmobile and slid into the northbound lane of Glen Road. Frampton then began to slow down, but the Oldsmobile continued sliding and the rear end of the Oldsmobile struck a front fender of the bus, police said.
Police said they issued Sears an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to drive to the right on a curve.    Â
