It’s Nearly Lobster Season In Sandy Hook

The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company will present its 21st annual Lobster Fest, the company’s largest fundraiser of the year, on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7. The event will run from 5 to 9 pm its first night, and open two hours earlier — at 3 pm — on Saturday afternoon.

Tickets are $22 in advance or $24 at the door, and include a steak or lobster dinner (with the option of purchasing an additional steak or lobster a la carte) complete with corn on the cob, potato salad, chowder, dinner roll, and a drink (beer, wine or soda). The event also offers a raw bar and steamers for an additional charge, and a children’s hamburger or hot dog dinner is offered at a reduced priced. Live music runs both nights. Members of the volunteer fire company, its auxiliary and even its Junior Corps take care of preparing and serving all the food.

The event is at the Sandy Hook main station, 18-20 Riverside Road. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the town clerk’s office in Edmond Town Hall or the fire marshal’s office on Peck’s Lane. Call the fire marshal’s office at 270-4370 for additional information.

The Lobster Fest may be a tradition that is more than two decades old for the Sandy Hook fire company, but it’s ticket sales have also gone high-tech: Lobster Fest tickets are now available online. Visit store.shvfr.com to purchase tickets or for even more information about the big event.
