Alvin W. Lewis
Alvin W. Lewis, 95, of Newtown, died peacefully at home, May 12, in the company of his family. He was born February 26, 1917, in Scranton, Penn., the son of T. Walter and Gladys Ketchum Lewis.
He married Vida Arline Davies on December 5, 1942, in Elmhurst, N.Y. They raised their family in Niantic, where he worked at Sheffield Tube Company prior to retirement.
He enjoyed family activities, Scouting, woodworking, model-making, crossword puzzles, and was an avid supporter of the UConn basketball teams. A kind and gentle family man, he will be missed.
His daughter Valerie Lewis Tracey of Newtown, two sons, Kenneth A. Lewis of Johns Island, S.C., and Ronald A. Lewis of Saunderstown, R.I.; four grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters survive Mr Lewis.
Private burial will take place at Union Cemetery, Niantic.
