To the Editor:

 I would like to thank the members of the Newtown Police Department and the Garner Correctional Institution who took the time to fund raise for the Special Olympics of Connecticut and to run in the torch relay.

As a family member of a competitor in the Special Olympics I want to say how much the competitions themselves and the surrounding events, such as the torch run, mean to the athletes. Your effort and enthusiasm are well worth it. Thank you.
