Bluegrass At CT’s Zoo

BRIDGEPORT — Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo will host four “ZooGrass” concerts on Sunday afternoons in August to celebrate bluegrass music.

Concerts will take place in the zoo’s Peacock Pavilion stage, or inside the Carousel Building in the event of inclement weather.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and ages 3-11, and free for ages 2, and includes zoo admission. Performances will begin at 2 pm and will run for about an hour.

The series will open on August 7 with Too Blue. Featuring its own blend of “high-octane bluegrass,” swing and originals, Too Blue members are Joan Harrison on lead vocals and banjo, Betsy Rome on guitar and vocals, Michael Sassano on mandolin and vocals, and Jack Murphy on bass and vocals.

The concerts will then continue with the acoustic band Hoe on August 14, Nick Novia & The Sons of Appalachia on August 21, and then on August 28, Ash Creek String Band.

The zoo is at 1875 Noble Avenue; call 203-394-6565 for additional information.
