Enforce Traffic Laws Now
Enforce Traffic Laws Now
To the Editor:
The hit and run accident of an eight-year-old boy on Queen Street is tragic. The police are not enforcing speeding, or running of red lights in Newtown. People drive without courtesy. The Police Commission and the police department must start enforcing traffic laws Now. No excuses!
The selectman has only an honorary position with the commission and the department, but until that situation is improved, by charter or law, he must step up to demand traffic law enforcement now.
Only a few years ago there was pedestrian fatality on Main Street and one on Church Hill Road also.
A few decades ago a resident state trooper and several constables were the law in Newtown. Our current large police department and commission have failed us so far with traffic law enforcement and safety. They must stop and ticket the violators now and forever.
Yours truly,
