Helping Neighbors

To the Editor:

This is a big shout out to Shandon Moffat and Sean Holcomb of John Beach Road for taking the time to look for opportunities to help their neighbors during the aftermath of the tornado. My driveway was completely blocked by a huge tree trunk with lots of full, leafy branches. I couldn’t get my car out of the driveway to drive to the grocery store and was wondering what to do about the problem 16 hours after the storm, while waiting for the power to come back on! Then I hear a steady chopping noise and the two young men are out there doing their best with small tools to get the branches off and the heavy trunk moved out of the street and out of my way! What an unexpected terrific surprise! I truly believe that if more teens took this kind of initiative, there would be a very impressed adult population in town!

Then our neighbor, Chris German, drove up with a chain saw and finished the job. (This is after he had been out all night helping the folks on Cedar Circle who had trees down everywhere.) I cannot thank these gentlemen enough. I definitely will not forget their efforts.
