The Avant-Garde

In Our Backyard

On Sunday, June 10 — which will be the final day of the Kay Sage exhibition at the Mattatuck — museum consultant Ann Smith will offer a special program, “The Avant-Garden in Our Backyard.” The program, which will be included with museum admission, will begin at 2 pm.

Ms Smith will discuss the creative circle of artists who took refuge in the northwest hills of Connecticut, including Alexander Calder, Yves Tanguy and Kay Sage, Arshile Gorky, Hans Richter, and Naum Gabo.

The program will highlight the work, the international significance, and the local associations of these artists.

For reservations or additional information call 203-753-0381 extension 10.
