Boys U14
Stamford 3, Strikers 2 (State Cup) â The Strikers rallied from 3-0 down with two goals from Aaron Nezvesky, but the rally fell short. Ryan Pasko, Liam Ferguson and Greg Campbell played hard in defense as Matt Hoffman and Russell Morgan had strong games in midfield. Christian Gregoire had another fine performance in goal.
Ridgefield 3, Strikers 1 â The Strikers fell to a well-organized Ridgefield unit. Aaron Nezvesky scored the lone Strikers goal. Mike Terlaga, Mike Carrafiello and Russell Morgan had good games. Ryan Pasko and Austin Jones battled in defense.
Boys U13
Force 5, Norwalk 0 â Newtown remained undefeated in district play with another shut out. Cameron Clark gets a hat trick as Travis Leblanc had a goal and Trevor Carey knocked one in off a corner from John Imbimbo.
Boys U12
Westport 3, Cobras 1 (State Cup) â Nick Barreto, Christian Mather and Richard Greenwood played well on offense in a loss to Westport. Danny Bittman scored the lone goal off of a combination pass play. Pieter Martino, Sam Langdon and Drew Sullivan played well in the midfield while keeper Sean Elliott and fellow defenders Noah Sock, Nick Gerbo and Matt Rahtelli fended off the fierce Westport offense.
Greenwich 3, Cobras 2 â Danny Bittman scored two goals off fine assists from Connor Quinn and Christian Mather to lead Newtown. Colin Moller, Drew Sullivan, Ian Solaski and Andrew Kelley moved the ball well through the midfield as defensemen Nick Gerbo and Stephen Conway had solid efforts.
Girls U12
West Haven 3, Flash 2 (State Cup) â Brittany Tolla and Bridget Power scored goals but the Flash fell to West Haven in a shootout. Tressa Scott, Christina Gould, Kristen Grabowski, Julia Trudell and Caitlin Yakush had strong games.
Flash 4, Westport 0 â Brittany Tolla scored two goals while Lindsay Jossick and Kristiana Engler scored a goal with an assist from Melissa Buccino to lead the Flash. Amy Martin played well offensively while the defense was led by Kelly Brooks, Jenna Hindes, Meaghan Harkins, Kristy Papaj with goaltender Katie Shirley.
Boys U11
Beasts 3, Westport 2 â Stefan Dullinger, Jonah Muniz and Robert Linden scored in a win over Westport. Brandon Marks and Charlie Helgren were strong in the midfield as Phil Healy, Logan Puleri and Matt Baldino and Sam Boland were strong on defense.
Beasts 3, Ridgefield 2 â Stefan Dullinger, Sam Boland and Robert Linden scored to lead the Beasts over Ridgefield. Brandon Marks and Charlie Helgren had strong games in the midfield as Phil Healy, Logan Puleri and Matt Baldino and Connor Gallagher were strong on defense.
Wilton 8, Beasts 3 â Stefan Dullinger, Charlie Helgren and Robert Linden scored in a loss to Wilton. Doug Miller, Matt Rosa, Adam Hufziger and Jonah Muniz had good games.
Boys U10
Westport Blue 8, White Lighting 2 â Brenton Scott scored twice for Newtown in a loss to Westport. Graham Hubbert, Constant Gregoire and Dillon Wikramanayake played well as Nathyn Horvath put in a fine effort with many takeaways in mid field.
White Lightning 2, Stamford 0 â Brenton Scott and Clay Gattey scored to lead the Lightning past Stamford. Luca Imbimbo, Knute Johnson and Kevin Droniak were great on defense while Kevin Ovendorf recorded the shutout in goal. Sawyer Conrad, Kaj Djonne and Ryan King were great on offense setting up the scoring opportunities.
Girls U10
Lightning 1, Western United Extreme 0 â Cassie Fischer scored the lone goal of the game to take the Lightning past Western United. Kailee Dunnigan and Jessica Keller both played great in the goal, and Megan Meyer and Shelby Tolla had good games.
Lightning 2, Trumbull 0 â Sarah Lynch scored both goals for the Lightning and Kailee Dunnigan had an assist as Newtown shut out Trumbull. Dale Shearin played very well on defense and in the midfield, while Cassie Fischer and Siena Cicarelli were tough in the nets for the Newtown.
IN-HOUSE
Boys U14
TNT 2, Dynamite 2 â Devin DeNicola and Chris Arnone scored the goals that lifted the TNT into a draw. Ricky Fuentes played an outstanding game at midfield and Miles Dobbrow had a great game at defense. Brett Pearce scored both goals for Dynamite on assists from Mac Morlock and Eric Pisani. Craig Frigon also had a strong second half in goal as Yossi Kohrman-Glaser played great at midfield.
Girls U14
Sharpshooters 4, Rage 1 â Jenna Bonaccorso scored three goals and Jamie Keating had a goal and an assist for the Sharpshooters. Alexandra Grant had three assists, and Gabrielle Milano had a strong game in goal. For the Rage, Amanda Stanton scored, while Molly Sheluck, Alexandra Duris and Abby Blakeman had good games.
Boys U10
Oskars 5, Camel Shards 1 â Spencer Tolson scored three goals to lead the Oskars to the win. Muhammed Sakhi scored, Lukas Palumbo was great on defense and Matt Hess had a great all-around game. For the Camel Shards, Daniel Colucci scored, John Carlson was great on offense and Samuel Omalyev had a great all-around game.
Girls U10
Tie Dye Tigers 3, Soccer Shockers 2 â Emily Grimes, Alexi Rodriguez and Jesse Sailer scored off assists by Meghan Grimes and Jesse Sailer to lead the Tigers to the win. Both Rebecca Grant and Jamie Duncan played excellent games in goal. Helene Sorensen and Sydney Allen scored for the Shockers with assists from Catherine McHugh and Jaqueline Mooney. Megan Weber was solid in goal for the Shockers.
Strikers 5, Twisters 1 â Kelsey Muniz scored two goals, and Emily Davis, Tanner Tardie and Aine Duffy scored one each for the Strikers in the win. Katie Bedell had a great overall game. For the Twisters, Mikayla Kuligowski scored the lone goal. Jenna Hansen and Emily Turco played well all around, and Emily Campbell was strong as goalie.
Comets 3, Nighthawks 1 â Hayley Dunn (2) and Tonya Tucker scored to lead the Comets to the win. Sophia Devivo played strong on defense while Noelle Veillette and Courtney Datin had great all around performances. For the Nighthawks, Alyssa Ruefenacht tallied as Marissa Liberante, Gabriella Perpignand and Bailey Smith played well.
Girls U8
Killers 2, Rockets 0 â Two goals from Anna Biondi and outstanding efforts by Emily Meave and Stefanie Carr lifted the Killers to the win. Grace Larson had a great overall game. For the Rockets, Anna Harrison and Brittney Antous had good offensive games while Jane Ricketts, Julia Sugrue and Hannah Hripac played well in defense.
Fighting Irish 5, Huskies 3 â Madeline Sieber, Megan Goyda, Megan Kelleher, Jillian Pieretti and Amanda Wikramanayake all scored goals to lead the Irish. Julia Scarangella played great on both sides of the ball. For the Huskies, Lauren Wilcox and Erin Tressler scored goals and Sydney Flint played great defense.
Mustangs 3, Power 1 â Lauren Beier, Alana Murray and Nevan Gattey scored to lead the Mustangs past the Power. Allison Indelicato, Lauren King and Bridgit Spies had assists. For the Power, Caroline Caporale scored the lone goal while Cameo Delia and Maya Neuhoff played great all around.
Skunks 6, Blue Dragons 3 â Colleen McCarthy scored her first goal of the year to lead the Skunks to the win. Other goals were scored by Molly Begg, Emily Charash and Casey Harkins. The Blue Dragons were led by Madeleine Strokis, with two goals, and strong play from Madeline Manfredonia and Brianna MacDonald.
Boys U8
Blasters 2, Patriots 1 â Goals by Nathan Augerbraun and Jack Riley lifted the Blasters to the win. Michael Liberante and Trevor Gaines had a great game. For the Patriots, Conner Mayer scored as Andrew Lee and Sebastian Forero led a strong offensive effort.
Team (#7) 4, Super Strikers 2 â Bobby Katrinak had two goals and Bryce Mather and Jamie Cochrane each had one to lead Team #7. Evan Kohlsaat and Geoffrey Santore played good overall games. Nick Genovese and Jacob Harper scored for the Super Strikers while Forrest Weatherby and Kieran McCann contributed with tremendous overall games.
Torpedoes 6, Flying Tornadoes 2 â James Carney scored three consecutive goals to lead the Torpedoes. Chris Healey added a pair of goals, one off of a corner kick, and Tommy Kitzmiller had his first career goal. Theodore Silverman and Cory Bratski both contributed goals for the Tornadoes and Jack Bittman played exceptional game at midfield, notching two assists.
Boys U6
Lightning 4, Fireballs 1 â John Finnegan had three goals and Robert DiSibio had one goal to lead the Lightning. Thomas Phaneuf and Tristan Crone played great on defense. For the Fireballs, Ryan Williams scored a goal and Hans Sorensen and Jacob Markowsky played outstanding defense.
Green Werewolves 3, Firekickers 2 â Matthew Gerbo scored all three goals to lead the Werewolves to the win. Robert Murray sparkled on D. Hunter Procaccini scored both goals for the âKickers, with assists by Aidan Ford. Marc Carlson, Danny Arneth, and Colin Dunn were superb in goal.
Blue Hurricanes 5, Blue Sharks 0 â Nicholas Harper scored three goals and Joshua Harper added two to lead the Hurricanes. Brendan OâHara and CJ Trivers provided assists. For the Blue Sharks, Christian Adam, Jack Hanley and Luke Melillo played well on offense while Garrett Fetchick excelled on defense.
Girls U6
American Eagles 2, Team (#7) 3 â Grace Sholtes and Madison Findley scored great goals for the American Eagles. Sarah Brittin kept the score close with her tremendous all-around game while Jordan Stofko and Vanessa Tucker wowed the crowd with their tenacious play.
