Making The Town

Special

To the Editor:

NewtownREADS was a huge success thanks to the phenomenal townwide support. Our wonderful Friends of C.H. Booth Library sponsored the event, but there are many others in town we would like to thank publicly. Many businesses are called upon to help our nursery schools, sports teams, and charities. And last week they came thorough for the library in a big way.  They are a big reason why we love to live in Newtown. They generously donated pizzas, hot meals, reduced room rates, flowers, props, and financial assistance. Our special thanks to Sandy Hook Liquor Store, Church Hill Liquor, the Dana-Holcombe House, Lexington Gardens, Hollandia Garden Center, Andrea’s Pastry Shop, Bagel Delight, Dunkin’ Donuts, Franco’s Pizza, My Place, Yankee Wine & Liquor, Curtis Package Corp, Kescoe Electric and Home Improvements, Naser’s Salon, Union Savings Bank, People’s Bank, Savings Bank of Danbury, Washington Mutual, Big Y, and Costco.

Other businesses hosted book discussion groups. Mocha Coffee House, Starbucks, and the Senior Center were especially welcoming. Some businesses allowed us to pass out books to their customers during our big kickoff. The Newtown General Store, Yankee Wine & Liquor, Starbucks, Mocha Coffee House, and the Newtown Gym were all very gracious. The Drug Center even set up a special table by their front door piled with books and other information on NewtownREADS.

Thank you Newtown businesses. You help to make our town special.

Sincerely,

Janet Woycik

CH Booth Library Director
