NRPS Kitchen Tour Is Returning On October 15
Newtown Residential Preservation Society will offer its 4th Annual Kitchens Tour on Sunday, October 15. The homeowners of eight private properties have agreed to open their homes â primarily the kitchens â for this yearâs event, which will run from 11 am to 3 pm.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the self-guided tour. Tickets are available in advance at The Little Green Barn, Magic Garden, Shear Image, UK Gourmet, The UPS Store and Victoria Yarrow in Newtown; Kitchen Traditions, Klaffâs and La Pietra in Danbury; and Addessi Jewelers in Ridgefield.
The kitchen in the home owned by Wayne and Bernadette Addessi is featured this week (photos, at left). The Addessis live in an 1840s farmhouse. A tiny foyer leads into the kitchen, which was completely renovated when the couple and their children moved into the home nearly a year and a half ago.
Five-inch random length larch wood runs between the foyer, kitchen and adjacent dining room; a large pass-through window makes serving from the kitchen a breeze. The kitchen today features a Jenn-Air five burner stove, a dual over with upper toast feature, and an industrial hood over the stove. A long narrow counter is accented on each end with a crock filled with utensils, and Mrs Addessi says she is âthrilledâ with the kitchen now, along with the rest of the house.
(Additional kitchens will be featured in the next two issues of The Bee.)
