3rd Annual Destination Newtown Showcases Retail Opportunities

The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown announced this week that the organization’s 3rd Annual Destination Newtown event will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at Edmond Town Hall from 4 to 8 pm.

The event will be kicked off with a Retail Passbook Program during the month of October.

“The Passbook Program is a contest designed to encourage Newtowners to visit local chamber retail shops and become acquainted with the shopping opportunities in town through use of a passbook,” said event coordinator Tricia Farin of Jantris Marketing Services, LLC.

Passbooks, featuring 12 participating businesses each having a page featuring the name, address, assorted contact numbers, and services, will be available early October. The passbook can be obtained at each of the participating retailers, the C.H. Booth Library, local banks, Edmond Town Hall, and the chamber’s office.

Participating retailers this year include: Berkshire Mobile Electronics, Cold Stone Creamery, Fashion Exchange, Indulgence, Magic Garden, McLaughlin Vineyards, Newtown Curtain, Newtown Drug Center, Sal E Pepe, Style, LLC, The Clock Shop, and Truly Yours.

Once the passbook is in hand, “passbook holders have until the day of the trade show, to visit each retailer in the book and have their page stamped,” Farin said. No purchase is necessary for the stamping.

To be eligible for the raffle, each person must bring their fully stamped passbook to Destination Newtown. Only the holder of the passbook can drop it into the raffle bin.

Passbooks will be distributed the first week of October to the participating retailers and the other town sites.

“At the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, we feel it is important that Newtowners visit their own local retailers,” said Chamber President Pat Linnell. “We hope this Passbook Program will encourage everyone who participates to not only visit the retailers for this promotion, but return for future visits.”
