Newtown's Feel-Good Library
Newtownâs Feel-Good
Library
To the Editor:
I cannot tell you how many countless times I have left the C.H. Booth Library and said to myself (sometimes even out loud), âThis library puts me in such a good mood, I swear I am going to write a letter to The Bee.â Finally, my excuses pulled a no-show, and I just have to publicly thank Janet Woycik and her entire staff for being such an invaluable resource for me and my family.
The library is my and my 5-year-oldâs favorite place to go, and my older stepdaughters used to come home from their private colleges (where they had beautiful libraries) just so they could get work done at our library. As for my teenagers, well, I wish they used it more (but that is not the libraryâs fault)!
My point is, whether you are doing research on the third floor, or looking for quiet study areas on the second, or enjoying the incredible childrenâs programs on the first, you would think that the only thing the employees have on their minds is how they can help you.
It is expensive to live in Newtown, and my heart goes out to people who donât even have children in the school system as budget time rolls around. If writing that âTown of Newtownâ check thoroughly depresses you, skip the Prozac and go to the library. It will make you feel a lot better.
Sincerely,
Kate Sclafani
