Israel 60 Expected To Draw Thousands
WILTON â The Israel 60 Celebration is coming to southern Connecticut Sunday, May 25, and is expected to draw as many as 10,000 visitors for a family-friendly evening. The celebration is meant to offer an opportunity for the community to draw together to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel.
The celebration will begin at 5 pm at the Wilton High School Athletic Complex, 395 Danbury Road (Route 7), with childrenâs athletic and fun events for participants of all ages. The celebration will continue at 7 with live music by the singer-songwriter David Broza.
The Israeli superstar has been considered one of the most dynamic and vibrant performers in the singer-songwriter world for more than 30 years. Mr Brozaâs charismatic and energetic performances have brought to worldwide audiences fusions of the three different countries in which he was raised â Israel, Spain, and England â filling concert halls with his famous guitar playing, which ranges from flamenco-flavored rhythmic and percussion techniques to whirlwind finger picking and a signature rock ânâ roll sound.
Mr Broza unites the three worlds by using his ability to take on the troubadour style tradition, featuring lyrics of the worldâs greatest poets.
The childrenâs events will include a performance by The Sarah Herzog Emunotes, the girlsâ choir of The Sarah Herzog Childrenâs Center in Afula, Israel, plus Nurit (Israeli folk songs), face painting, balloon sculpture, a magician, arts and crafts, an inflatable castle air bounce, Israeli dancing, and mini golf.
Admission is free and open to all. Nearby parking, however, is $18 if purchased in advance by calling 203-226-8197 or visiting BrozaConcert.com, or $25 at the gate. Parking proceeds will benefit The Sarah Herzog Childrenâs Center in Afula, Israel.
The Israel 60 Celebration is being presented by UJA/Federation of Westport-Weston-Wilton-Norwalk, and sister organizations representing Fairfield, New Haven, and Middlesex Counties in Connecticut, and northern Westchester and southern Putnam Counties in New York.
