Creative Writing Summer Program
Creative Writing Summer Camp signups are open at the Booth Library. Tom McMorran, English teacher and Newtown resident, will lead the summer sessions for young people.
Mr McMorran has been a middle and high school English teacher, currently serving as assistant principal at Ridgefield High School.
A graduate of Boston College, Fordham University, and Southern Connecticut State University, Mr McMorran has presented workshops on writing and brain-based learning to the Connecticut Conference of Teachers of English. He is a fellow in the Connecticut Writing Project. He has waged a war against adverbs for nearly 20 years. His overdue library fines at Booth have financed nearly one-third of the new construction.
Camp will meet from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesdays for rising grades six and seven, July 11 to August 8. Camp will meet from 4 to 6 pm on Thursdays for rising grades eight and up, from July 6 to August 3. Participants are expected to attend all five sessions. Space is limited to ten in each class, with preference given to Newtown residents.
