To the Editor:

Elections take place next Tuesday, and every vote counts for choosing the right people to guide us through some difficult times. Newtown is growing fast, and we need both fiscal responsibility and vision for the future. We recommend our friend and neighbor Peggy Baiad for the Legislative Council as our candidate from District 2.

It is not because Peggy is our friend and neighbor that we endorse her candidacy but because she has already served faithfully on the Legislative Council for the past eight years and has shown herself to be worthy of the office. She has earned her stripes. Peggy has lived in Newtown for the past 34 years, raised her family here, and wants to see Newtown continue to be a town we can all be proud of. Peggy looks at the “big picture” as issues arise and does not have special interests that guide her thinking. Rather, she looks at what is best for Newtown from a variety of standpoints, not from a single perspective.

Yes, Peggy is our neighbor and friend. She never says “no” when a neighbor needs help, and we can attest to that as we have called upon her often. We have lived in Newtown for 51 years and cherish this town as much as Peggy does. As a neighbor, we know her well enough to say that the town of Newtown has a loyal friend in Peggy who will weigh all sides carefully in the best interests of our town before voting on any and all issues. She deserves your vote. Reelect Peggy!
