Firefighters Collect For Food Pantry

Firefighters from the town’s five volunteer fire departments collected food and cash donations during their annual Fill A Fire Truck food drive, which was held  from 9 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 20, at the Big Y and Super Stop & Shop. In the photos, clockwise from lower left, the Dodgingtown firefighters brought their truck to Super Stop & Shop; the United Fire Company of Botsford set up a table to receive donations; the Sandy Hook, Newtown Hook & Ladder, and Hawleyville fire companies collected food at Big Y; below, the firefighters delivered 109 boxes of food, 22 turkeys, eight hams and other roasts, and almost $500 in cash donations to the volunteers who staff the FAITH food pantry in Sandy Hook.                                                                                                                                   —Bee Photos, Valenta and Hicks
