Probation Violations

Newtown police report that Waterbury police arrested Jason Hurley, 32, of Camden, Maine, on the night of November 23, charging Hurley with two counts of violation of probation, in view of arrest warrants that Newtown police had against Hurley.

The probation violation charges stem from two arrests that Newtown police made against Hurley in 1995, Newtown police said.

Newtown police held Hurley on $100,00 bail for a November 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Currituck DUI

Police report that they responded to a call informing them that there had been a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Currituck Road and Blakeslee Drive about 1:30 am November 24.

Police said they found a vehicle there that had struck a stone wall, a street sign, and a fire hydrant.

The driver of that vehicle, Edward C. Tella, 21, of Watertown failed field sobriety testing and was charged with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn, police said.

After posting $50 bail, police released Tella for a December 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

Police said they pulled over motorist Katherine Dunn, 39, of Branford on South Main Street on November 23 to investigate, after which they charged Dunn with driving while under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

After processing the case, police released Dunn on a promise to appear in court on December 7.

Tools Found

Police report that a variety of tools were found on November 19 near the turnaround circle on Hemlock Road, which is a dead-end street off Little Brook Lane. Found were a weed trimmer, a hatchet, and two machetes. Police are holding the tools for safekeeping. The owner should contact police to claim the tools.
