South Main Accident

Police report that motorist Tracy Molitor, 59, of Milford, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer southward on South Main Street, stopped for a red traffic signal at the northern entrance to Sand Hill Plaza about 7:52 pm November 18.

Southbound motorist Carl Ramsdell, 44, of Westbrook, who was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Passat station wagon, then stopped behind the Chevrolet, police said.

Southbound trucker Earl Erickson, 47, of Monroe, who was driving a commercial 2004 Ford roll-off dumpster garbage truck, then struck the rear end of the Volkswagen, pushing the Volkswagen into the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. After investigating, police charged Erickson with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, and following too closely. Police released Erickson on $200 bail for a December 2 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant Arrest

On November 19, police arrested Andrew Puco, 19, of Southbury in Hamden, for whom they held an outstanding warrant.

Police charged Puco with failure to respond to an infraction ticket and with simple trespassing. Police said that Puco did not respond to an infraction ticket for simple trespassing which they issued to him on July 29 after he was found riding a light motorcycle at a privately owned sand and gravel mine on Button Shop Road.

Puco posted $92 bail for a December 2 court appearance.

Honda Vs Honda

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of South Main Street and Country Club Road about 7:30 am November 18.

The crash involved motorist Douglas Dunleavy, III, 17, of 50 Platts Hill Road, who was driving a 1998 Honda Prelude, and motorist Jennifer Haghpanah, 20, of 197 Sugar Street, who was driving a 2004 Honda Civic, police report.

Haghpanah reported back pain and ambulance staffers went to the scene, but she refused ambulance transport, police said. Police issued Dunleavy an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.

Audi Damaged

While it was parked in a driveway at 68 Boggs Hill Road about 10:30 am November 17, someone damaged an unoccupied 1996 Audi by striking the passenger side of the vehicle, police said. Police are investigating.

Money Found

Police report that on the afternoon of November 19, an unspecified amount of money was found on Main Street, near West Street. Police are holding the money for safekeeping. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the money.

Vehicular Violations

While he was driving westward on Mt Pleasant Road, near Violette Road, about 5 pm November 19, police stopped motorist Gaetan Morin, 55, of 156 Mt Pleasant Road. Police said they investigated and then charged Morin with failure to renew a vehicle registration and with driving while under suspension. Police released Morin on $100 bail for a December 3 court appearance.

Hemlock Road

About 9 pm November 19, police found several vehicles parked at the end of the dead end Hemlock Road, so they investigated. Hemlock Road extends from Little Brook Lane in Botsford.

Some teenagers were having a party in a wooded area nearby, police said.

Police report that Stephen Borchetta, 16, of 10 Willow Brook Lane had driven to the area and had alcohol visible in his vehicle. An ensuing search of that vehicle turned up drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police said they then charged Borchetta with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as violating the passenger restrictions that are in effect for new drivers.

Borchetta is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on those charges on December 1, according to police.

Additionally, police issued Borchetta a written warning for possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by an underage person. That violation will be the subject of a state Department of Motor Vehicles administrative hearing, police said.

DUI Arrest

Police report that they saw motorist Kenneth Dellacorte, 42, of Monroe weaving on the roadway while driving southward on Route 25, about 11:50 pm November 21, so they stopped him to investigate.

Following sobriety testing, police charged Dellacorte with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. After he posted $100 bail, police released Dellacorte for a December 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Camry Collision

Motorist Suzanne Dunn, 52, of 4 Sugarloaf Road, who was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry northward near 71 Mt Pleasant Road about 5:30 pm November 17, encountered a deer that had run into the road and collided with it, police report. The deer died. Dunn was not injured, police said.

 

South Main Street

At about 9 pm November 19, motorist Rose Smith, 41, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Sentra southward on South Main Street, near Washbrook Road, collided with a deer, police said. Smith was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

I-84 DUI

State police report that at about 5:40 pm November 21, they saw motorist Kenneth J. Berry, 39, no address listed, driving erratically on eastbound Interstate 84 between Exits 9 and 10, so they stopped him to investigate.

Stat police charged Berry with driving under the influence, and with failure to drive in the established lane. After posting $500 bail, state police released Berry for a December 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Auto Parts Stolen

State police learned about 6:30 pm November 16 that someone had stolen the two rear wheel covers from a 2003 Toyota Camry, which had been parked at the commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road, near Exit 9 of Interstate 84. State police are investigating.

Interstate 84 DUI

State police report that they arrested motorist Isaiaas Reyes Cano, 24, of Danbury on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, at about 3:45 pm November 15, lodging four violations.

State police said that Cano had been involved in an accident while driving a 2004 Isuzu box truck on westbound I-84, near Exit 23, in Waterbury, but just kept driving until he was apprehended.

State police charged Cano with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, evading responsibility, and failure to drive in the proper lane. Cano was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.

 

Wasserman Way

Motorist Sarah Larbi, 35, of Worcester, Mass., who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu westward on Wasserman Way about 5:40 pm November 20, made a left turn toward the Exit 11 on-ramp of Interstate 84, police said.

In making that turn, the Chevrolet drove in front of eastbound motorist Christopher Fish, 39, of 4 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 1998 Honda Accord, police said. The Chevrolet and Honda then collided.

 There were no injuries. Police issued Larbi a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.

Swamp Road

Motorist Kim Molinaro Calabro, 30, of Wolcott was driving a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner northward on Swamp Road about 5:15 pm November 22, when a southbound truck made contact with the Toyota, cracking the driver’s side exterior rear-view mirror of the Toyota, police said.

The trucker apparently was not aware on the collision and continued onward, police said. Calabro was not injured.

Probation Violations

Newtown police report that Waterbury police arrested Jason Hurley, 32, of Camden, Maine, on the night of November 23, charging Hurley with two counts of violation of probation, in view of arrest warrants that Newtown police had against Hurley.

The probation violation charges stem from two arrests that Newtown police made against Hurley in 1995, Newtown police said.

 Newtown police held Hurley on $100,00 bail for a November 24 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Currituck DUI

Police report that they responded to a call informing them that there had been a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of Currituck Road and Blakeslee Drive about 1:30 am November 24.

Police said they found a vehicle there that had struck a stone wall, a street sign, and a fire hydrant.

The driver of that vehicle, Edward C. Tella, 21, of Watertown failed field sobriety testing and was charged with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn, police said.

After posting $50 bail, police released Tella for a December 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

Police said they pulled over motorist Katherine Dunn, 39, of Branford on South Main Street on November 23 to investigate, after which they charged Dunn with driving while under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

After processing the case, police released Dunn on a promise to appear in court on December 7.

Tools Found

Police report that a variety of tools were found on November 19 near the turnaround circle on Hemlock Road, which is a dead-end street off Little Brook Lane. Found were a weed trimmer, a hatchet, and two machetes. Police are holding the tools for safekeeping. The owner should contact police to claim the tools.
