Many Helped To ‘Fill The Firetruck’

To the Editor:

The “Fill the Fire Truck Food Drive” was very successful this year due to the generous residents of Newtown and a few local businesses. I would like to thank the Big Y Supermarket and the Stop & Shop Supermarket for allowing us to collect food donations in front of their stores. Curtis Packaging donated boxes to us to collect the food for the residents of Newtown. I would also like to thank The Villa Restaurant, Carminuccio’s Pizza and The Firehouse Bar & Restaurant for donating pizzas to the firefighters for lunch while collecting food. It helped keep us warm when the rain started.

A big thank you goes out to the members of the five volunteer fire companies who stood and collected food and then delivered it to the FAITH food pantry on Washington Avenue.

The residents of Newtown were very generous, as we collected over 100 boxes of food and almost $500. Happy Thanksgiving to all and we look forward to seeing you next year!
