Sunday, September 26 â St. Peterâs Church in Cheshire will hold its 30th annual Charity Horse Show on Sunday, September 26, at the Old Bethany Airport on Route 63 in Bethany. Some 125 competitors from all over Connecticut and surrounding states will compete for 44 different championships. Almost every style of riding and driving will be exhibited in the two rings that will operate all day long, rain or shine. Participating will be hunters, jumpers, Morgans, Arabians, Road Hacks, and Carriage horses. Returning this year will be the exciting competition to determine the perfect Versatility Horse. In this class, each entry will compete in Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Jumping and then finish in a timed Barrel Race. The prize will be en embroidered polar fleece dress blanket. A new class this year will be the Mother and Daughter Pairs Class. St. Peterâs donates all its profits to outreach projects in Cheshire and the surrounding communities. Sunday, October 3 â The fourth annual Quiet Cornerâs Ride for the Cure will be held Sunday, October 3, at Tyrone Farm in Pomfret. Riders will cover an 11-mile course through the historic region around Pomfret, known as the Quiet Corner. The event benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a national organization dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. Each participant must raise or make a personal donation of at least $250, which goes directly to the foundation (last year more than $30,000 was raised).
