Ferrari

Bernardino “Dino” Ferrari, 58, of Sandy Hook, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, died May 19, in Danbury Hospital. He was born February 23, 1954, in Italy, and then was adopted by Helen and Gerald Ferrari of Stamford, where he was raised with his brother, Anthony, and sister, Kathleen (Shorty).

He was a USAF Vietnam Veteran and a graduate of Sacred Heart University.

A 20-year resident of Sandy Hook, Mr Ferrari was a dedicated and loyal employee of Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) for more than 30 years, performing a variety of roles from entry level mail room clerk to area manager, customer service. He treasured the relationships he formed at CL&P over the years and thought of his co-workers, not only as dear and supportive friends, but as an extended family.

Mr Ferrari’s kindness, generosity, amazing sense of humor, and easy-going nature made him an endearing and beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.  He was a constant cheerleader at his son, Jason’s, numerous sports events and provided endless encouragement to his daughter, Lisa, with her dance and community activities. Furthermore, his endless optimism and adventurous spirit was an enduring inspiration to his wife, Elena.

His wife and two children of Sandy Hook; his mother; and brother and sister survive Mr Ferrari.

Lastly, to his children, a quote from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand.  It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.”

A private family service took place May 19.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Ferrari home in support of Lisa and Jason Ferrari’s college education.
