Center’s Support For New Year

DANBURY — Registration is now being accepted for the winter support groups conducted by the Woman’s Center of Greater Danbury.

Divorce & Separation will begin Thursday evening, February 19. An evening Self-Esteem for Women starts Wednesday, February 18 and the daytime Self Esteem group begins Tuesday, February 24. Register for the free and confidential groups by calling 203-731-5200.

The eight week Divorce & Separation Support Group, designed for adults contemplating, going through, or recently divorced, explores such topics as the mourning process of divorce, self esteem, coping strategies for stress, anger and loneliness, and moving beyond the divorce.

The seven week Self-Esteem for Women group deals with the effects of family origin and society on self-image, strength assessment, self-nurturing techniques, assertiveness, and conflict resolution.

The Woman’s Center has been providing continuous service to Greater Danbury residents for 28 years. In addition to support groups, the center offers counseling, crisis intervention, workshops, prevention programs, two 24-hour hotlines, and a referral Helpline.
