Traveling Gourmet Puts

Chinese Meal On Hold

Tuesday’s snowstorm forced a number of cancellations around town, including Norma Chang’s scheduled presentation on Tuesday of a “Do-Ahead Chinese Party” at C.H. Booth Library. Instead, the cooking program will be featured on Wednesday, February 11, at 1 pm.

Newtown residents are invited to learn some authentic crowd-pleasing recipes that can be prepared ahead. These include steamed pearl balls, lotus root salad, sesame noodles, eggplant salad, and wontons.

Weaving timesaving tips and helpful hints into her presentation, Ms Chang enthusiastically demystifies Chinese cooking for her audience and introduces participants to practical and easy-to-prepare recipes with an emphasis on low-fat, high flavor, and nutrition. Participants are able to sample all of the dishes prepared during the session.

Norma Chang is a food lover who enjoys sharing her skills and ideas with others through her many food related activities. She is also a master gardener, specializing in Asian vegetables, and the author of two cookbooks including Wokking Your Way to Low-fat Cooking.

The cooking demonstration is free but reservations are required as class size is limited to 40 participants. Call the library at 426-4533 for details or registration.
