Jennie M. Kayfus, 78, wife of the late William Kayfus, Jr, of 84 Toddy Hill Road, Sandy Hook, died January 27 in Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport, May 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Stephen and Julia (Rapsky) Barna.
She attended Bridgeport schools and has been a resident of Newtown since 1940. She worked for Bryant Electric Company in Bridgeport during World War II. She later was employed at Buckingham Gardens Nursing Home and at Sandy Hook School. She was a Communicant of St Rose Church, and a former member of the Columbetts and the Botsford Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by sevens sons, William, III, of Sandy Hook, Lawrence of Ansonia, John of Danbury, Frank of Southbury, David of Delray Beach, Fla., Peter of Plano, Tex., and Edward of Fairfield, Vt.; two daughters, Jeanann Heise of Newtown and Mary Ann Phillips of Southbury; three brothers, Lawrence Barna of Bridgeport, Stephen Barna of Bethel, and J. Robert Barna of Southbury; two sisters, Helen Goette of Fairfield and Grace Jacox of Largo, Fla. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held February 1 from the Honan Funeral Home to St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
