Walter R.    Truchsess
Walter R. Truchsess, 78, of Santa Maria, Calif., formerly of Danbury, died November 27 at the Marion Extended Care Center, Santa Maria, Calif.
He was the husband of the late Helen F. (Farrell) Truchsess, and the father and father-in-law of John P. and Candace Truchsess of Newtown
Mr Truchsess was born March 17, 1925 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late William and Sarah (Greene) Truchsess. Raised and educated in Brooklyn, Mr Truchsess joined the US Army, serving as a radio operator in Europe and North Africa during World War II.
Following his military service, he returned home, married, and started a family.
Mr Truchsess was employed in private industry for several years, and was later employed by the State of Connecticut Highway Department.
A Danbury resident since 1966, he moved to Santa Maria, Calif., in 1999, where he was a communicant of St Louis de Montfort Roman Catholic Church.
Mr Truchsess is also survived by three other sons, Richard S. Truchsess, and his wife Dotti, of Santa Maria, Calif.; William F. Truchsess, and his wife Janet, of Fallbrook, Calif.; Kevin J. Truchsess, and his wife Lauren, of New Milford; 15 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled Friday at St Joseph Church, Danbury, at 10 am.
Burial will be in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The Hull Funeral Home, Sixty Division Street, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
